Kabarak University: Three Students Arrested Over Murder of Fellow Comrade

In a significant development in the investigation into the murder of Kabarak University nursing student Derrick Malumasa Sabuni, three students are set to be arraigned in court today. The suspects were arrested on Friday evening following an intensive probe by detectives, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Detectives are expected to make a miscellaneous application in court seeking to detain the three individuals as they delve deeper into the murder of 23-year-old Derrick Malumasa Sabuni. The third-year nursing student was discovered with stab wounds to the stomach along the Nakuru-Mogotio road near Kampi Ya Moto trading centre on Friday morning.

Police investigations have led them to believe that Sabuni might not have been killed at the location where his body was found, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing inquiry.

The arraignment of the three students reflects a crucial step in the legal process as investigators work to piece together the events leading to Sabuni’s tragic death. The court proceedings will provide an opportunity for the prosecution to present evidence and arguments supporting the detention of the suspects.

In a separate legal matter, the defence hearing for former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal is scheduled to commence at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. Lenolkulal is facing charges of corruption amounting to Sh84 million, including abuse of office, conflict of interest, and unlawful acquisition of public property.

The Anti-Corruption Court had previously found a prima facie case against Lenolkulal, Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki ruling that the former governor, along with nine other co-accused, will be put on their defence. This decision followed a thorough examination of evidence presented by 11 prosecution witnesses and 388 documentary exhibits.
