Kabarak University Student Found Dead with Stab Wounds

Derrick Malumasa Sabuni, a 23-year-old third-year nursing student at Kabarak University, has been found dead with stab wounds on the Nakuru-Mogotio road near Kampi Ya Moto trading center on Friday morning.

According to the police, Sabuni’s colleagues at the university discovered him on the road and promptly rushed him to the Kabarak University health center. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, succumbing to a serious stab wound on his stomach inflicted by an unknown assailant using a sharp object.

Detectives suspect that the motive behind the fatal stabbing may have been a robbery, as Sabuni’s belongings were reported missing from the scene. The incident is believed to have occurred past midnight, and investigators are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Police officers visited both the hospital and the crime scene as part of their ongoing investigation into the murder. The motive behind the killing remains unclear at this point, as detectives continue to piece together the events leading to Sabuni’s untimely demise.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Nakuru Municipal Annex Mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The results of the postmortem are expected to provide valuable information for the ongoing investigation.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Sabuni’s murder. Detectives are intensifying their efforts, and additional visits to the crime scene are planned for further examination and evidence collection.

This tragic incident comes in the wake of another university student’s murder, adding to the growing concerns about student safety. Just last week, JKUAT student Rita Waeni was brutally killed, her head severed in a shocking act of violence. The proximity of these incidents has heightened anxiety among students and the wider community, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced security measures.

The authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in solving these cases and ensuring the safety of students and residents in the region.
