A harrowing incident that unfolded on Monday afternoon. The lifeless body of Bridget Ochieng, a dedicated teacher based in Kisumu, was discovered in her residence at Oboch Market in Nyakach Sub-County. The victim had been fatally stabbed by her boyfriend, Joab Otieno, following a domestic dispute.
Neighbours made the gruesome discovery, finding Bridget’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood within her home. It was revealed that the violent altercation had escalated to a tragic end, resulting in her untimely death.
In a shocking turn of events, a furious mob descended on Joab Otieno, armed with crude weapons, and subjected him to a brutal beating before law enforcement intervened to rescue him. Otieno, bearing serious injuries from the mob assault, was promptly taken to Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical treatment.
Upper Nyakach Division Assistant County Commissioner Dawin Orina confirmed the incident, assuring the community that investigations were underway to determine the full scope of the tragedy. Authorities aim to establish whether there were additional accomplices involved in the heinous act.
“We are holding the suspect and will put him to task to reveal what exactly transpired and whether there were other accomplices so that they face the full force of the law,” stated Orina.
Bridget Ochieng, a Mathematics and Sciences teacher at Obwolo Mixed Secondary School, was well-regarded in the community for her dedication to education. Her untimely demise has left friends, family, and colleagues in shock.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic incident, Bridget’s body has been taken to St Joseph’s Nyabondo Mission Hospital Morgue, awaiting a postmortem examination.
