A four-year-old girl has lost her life after falling from the fourth floor of a house in Embakasi, Nairobi. The tragic incident occurred on Monday night while the young girl was playing with her friends.
According to the police report, the girl slid through grills at the staircase and fell to the ground floor, landing headfirst. Despite being rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival, marking a devastating end to the family’s evening.
Police officers visited the scene to conduct investigations, establishing the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall. The incident serves as a painful reminder of the importance of child safety and vigilance, especially in multi-story buildings.
In a separate but equally distressing turn of events, two incidents of electrocution are currently under investigation by both the police and Kenya Power officials.
The first incident took place in Athi River, where 28-year-old Davis Lumumba met a tragic end while working at a construction site. Lumumba, an electrician, was instructed by a manager to disconnect a spotlight and connect a drill. Unfortunately, he came into contact with a live naked wire and was electrocuted. Despite being rushed to Shalom Community Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In the second incident, a 20-year-old man was discovered electrocuted in Msambweni, Kwale. The young man was allegedly attempting to vandalize a copper cable on a high-voltage power line along the zero-zero base Titanium road in Bumamani village. Police recovered a hacksaw from the scene as evidence.
Both bodies have been moved to the mortuary, awaiting autopsy procedures as investigations into the electrocution incidents continue. These tragic events underscore the need for heightened safety measures and awareness, both within households and at construction sites, to prevent such devastating occurrences in the future.
