An ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of twenty-eight-year-old Nelvin Museti has led to the arrest of police officer Victor Ouma. Museti allegedly fell to her death from the third floor of a Lang’ata residential apartment on the dawn of January 11, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The caretaker of Ascort Apartments, where Museti resided, reported that she jumped off her balcony at 5:00 am. The caretaker promptly notified the Lang’ata Police Station, and officers arrived at the scene to transport the body to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police reports indicate that Ouma visited Museti’s residence, bringing various items, including alcoholic drinks. Forensic analysis of Museti’s phone suggested Ouma’s suspected presence at the scene, as they were in constant communication.
An excerpt from the police report stated, “Investigations were immediately commenced whereby a mobile telephone analysis of the victim’s phone was carried out and it was established a mobile subscriber 07235882*, later identified as No 114270 PC Victor Ouma, was found to have been in constant communication with the victim.” Further analysis revealed that Ouma was present in Museti’s apartment during the incident.*
Recovered from Museti’s residence were an empty Viceroy bottle, a 2-litre soft drink, a partially smoked roll of bhang, and a used rubber contraceptive. Ouma, stationed at the GSU headquarters in Ruaraka, faces ongoing investigations to determine if any alterations occurred in the apartment between the nights of January 10 and 11, 2024.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear. Nelvin Museti’s death marks the third mysterious case in Nairobi this month. On January 4, city socialite Starlet Wahu was found murdered in a short-term rental house, with a man named John Matara considered the prime suspect. Two weeks later, another woman was discovered decapitated and concealed in garbage bags after booking into a Roysambu apartment with a man.
